Core Concepts

Understand the building blocks of clienwork.

Workspace

A workspace is your team's home. It contains all projects, team members, and clients.

  • Each workspace has a unique subdomain
  • Billing and plans are per workspace
  • Team members can belong to multiple workspaces

Projects

Projects organize work for a specific client or initiative.

  • Custom statuses per project
  • Client visibility settings
  • Request and issue tracking

Requests

Requests are what clients ask for. They're the starting point of work.

Requests move through project-defined statuses (your team can rename and reorder them).

  • Submitted by clients or team members
  • Can be broken into work items
  • Comments can be internal or client-visible

Work Items

Work items are the actual tasks to complete a request.

  • Assigned to team members
  • Tracked independently
  • Roll up to request progress

Issues

Issues track technical work, often linked to GitHub.

  • Can be linked to GitHub Issues
  • Separate from client-facing requests
  • Used for internal tracking

Clients

Clients have limited access to view and submit requests.

  • Portal-only access
  • See only assigned projects
  • Cannot see internal comments or issues

Team Members

Team members are your internal staff.

Roles:

  • Owner — Full access, billing
  • Admin — Manage team and settings
  • Member — Create and manage work
